Related - David Vogel, fisheries scientist now with nearly 50 years experience, 14 working for U.S. Fish and wildlife Service: "In 1986 the U.S. F&W Service staff responsible for whether or not to pursue these (ESA) listings believed there were only 12,000 Lost River suckers in the Upper Klamath Lake...they didn't believe they were endangered. A couple years later...we now know for a fact that numbers were exceeded by tens of thousands of Lost River suckers. Now they flip flop and they say they are endangered? What constitutes endangered?" July 17, 2004 Congressional Hearing in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

WARNING: Stephen Koshy Page: Clay-Core Dam Engineer Stephen Koshy's scientific reports, letters, and government correspondence regarding his prediction of the imminent catastrophic collapse if the Klamath Hydroelectric Dams are destroyed.
* Simplified 3-page letter to Siskiyou County legal counsel Thomas P Guarino from scientist Stephen Koshy on catastrophic Klamath dam collapse. Koshy called and explained to KBC News that there will be a catastrophic collapse if Klamath dams are destroyed, costing lives and at least $5 billion to clean up. He sent his detailed warning to the Bureau of Reclamation but they did not respond. 4/15/12.

Klamath Dams and Oyster Farm: The President’s Unfinished Promise: The Federal Government Still Lacks a Meaningful Scientific Integrity Policy, Huffington Post by Dr. Corey Goodman, elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, biotech entrepreneur and venture capitalist, and retired University of California at Berkeley biology professor, 2/26/16. "..When the Obama administration came into office, it began considering a billion-dollar project to remove four dams on the Klamath River. There was never much doubt about the outcome: in 2009, Interior Secretary Salazar said that the proposal to remove the dams 'will not fail.'...
First, Interior’s policy provides no transparency, timeliness, and truly independent review. Second, it fails to deal with agency conflicts of interest. Third, it has no requirement to correct egregious errors. And fourth, it provides no accountability - no way to appeal decisions either administratively or in the courts..."

"Watch over the legitimacy, and the truthfulness, of what we call science," by Oregon Senator Doug Whitsett, posted to KBC 6/23/14.
* "Upper Klamath Lake TMDL is based on the false assumption that development of the Upper Basin by European man has resulted in significant increases in the phosphorous concentration that helps to cause poor water quality in Upper Klamath Lake.
* We are asked to assume that the alleged decline of the endangered suckers is the result of declining water quality
* We are asked to assume that Coho Salmon are threatened in the Klamath River due to water storage for the Klamath Project
* We are asked to assume that the Northern Spotted Owl is endangered due to man-caused loss of habitat
* We are being asked to assume that the declining numbers of sage grouse are the result of loss of habitat due to cattle grazing.
* we are being asked to cooperate with the regulation of groundwater by the Oregon Water Resources Department based on a regional computer model that can only be described as fraudulent"

"I believe you, as many others, do a disservice to the local community as well as the scientific community by publishing one-sided material such as this. It will no doubt serve as additional fodder in the future by those wishing to obscure facts and promote an agenda."

Leaders: Consider the human factor, H&N 2/7/10, at Science Conference: "In conversations and at conference programs involving 300-plus scientists, Dierauf and others said a major message was to involve people living in areas impacted by the river and its tributaries in ongoing and future studies." "Cook:'Prove that’s the best for the river and prove that’s the best for the people of the United States. Don’t do it because it feels good.' ”

Salmon lecture left questions unanswered, by Steve Rapalyea, H&N Letter, Chiloquin 3/4/11. "They examined 15,000 bones from archaeological sites on the Williamson and Sprague rivers...6,000-plus were from suckers and minnows, 185 from salmon...These bones were dated from 7,000 to 100 years ago...That's 185 bones in 6900 years..."

More Comprehensive Analysis Of Klamath River Basin Needed To Aid Decision Makers, Science Daily, posted to KBC 12/6/07. " 'Science is being done in bits and pieces, and there is no conceptual model that gives a big picture perspective of the entire Klamath River basin and its many components...As a result, the integration of individual studies -- such as the two examined by the committee -- into a coherent whole has not taken place, and it is unlikely to take place under the present scientific and political arrangements'...the model results indicate that if more water is devoted to agriculture, more water would be returned to the Klamath River."
