Oregonians for Food and Shelter Legislative News 6/12/09

Instead of our usual OFS Newsletter, we felt Senator Larry George’s Senate Floor comments addressing the tax issues, (HB-3405 and HB-2649) were so well presented and relative to all of our businesses, that we thought we would share this video with you without competition of other legislative news.

To see the bills that passed in the House on June 9th and in the Senate on the 11th.

HB-2649 (personal income tax) http://www.leg.state.or.us/09reg/measpdf/hb2600.dir/hb2649.en.pdf

HB-3405 (Corporate minimum tax) http://www.leg.state.or.us/09reg/measpdf/hb3400.dir/hb3405.en.pdf

We are nearing the end of session, thank the Good Lord!  And will have something out to your early next week.  In the meantime, please listen and digest Senator George’s comments as it will set the stage for next week’s legislative report.

Thank you, thank you Senator George for your insightful wisdom to the majority party who summarily ignored you.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Paulette, Sandi and Terry

PS:       For Legislators who received this email: please take time to listen to Senator George and understand how Oregon business feels now that you’ve cast your Corporate minimum and personal income tax votes.  And upon reflection, if given another opportunity to vote – would you vote the same way?
