Thomas Allen Robison

(Below is the story of Tom's parents)

Thomas Allen Robison, 61, passed away quietly on Feb. 9, 2013, with his family by his side.

Tom was born in Alturas, Calif., on July 4, 1951, and brought home to the family homestead by his parents Fred and Velma Robison. He attended Tulelake schools, graduating in 1969, and continued his education at Humboldt State College, graduating in 1972.

After his marriage to Jackie Philips in the summer of 1972, Tom started his farming career while working as a potato inspector and raising their children Brian and Amanda. They divorced in 1999.

He continued his farming career for several more years before he found his true calling of metal artistry.

Tom and the former Karen Victorine Miller were married on Feb. 18, 2004, in Reno, Nev., while enjoying their love of cowboy action shooting. They enjoyed the shooting, friendships made, dressing the part of the Old West and even taking on new names they used at the shoots. Tom became quite well known in the shooting community, placing second at the 2008 World Championships, shooting in the “B” Western category.

Together, Tom and Karen created Pacific Northwest Metal Arts, traveling the Western United States to many well-known trade shows. His name became synonymous with beautiful, well-crafted metal artwork.

With a license plate that read “O Fish” in two states, remembering Tom would not be complete without mentioning fishing and hunting, two of his passions that began at an early age, sharing times with his dad and brother.

Tom is survived by wife Karen of Tulelake; children Brian (Amy) Robison of Klamath Falls and Amanda Robison of Belgrade, Mont.; stepchildren Daniel (Crystal) Miller of Canby, Ore., Janice (Dustin) Wade of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Robert (Sheridan) of Eugene, Ore.; brother Larry (Becky) Robison of Tulelake; and sister Nancy (Harvey) Bateman of Bainbridge Island, Wash. He is also survived by grandchildren Hannah, Lilly, little Tom, Benjamin, Henry, Gabriel, Ethan, Haily, Braiden, Griffin, and Leighton as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial to celebrate Tom’s life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fairgrounds in the arts and crafts building.

Tulelake Homesteaders - from Our Greatest Generation, have passed. Fred fought in WWII defending his country; they farmed the rest of their lives to feed a hungry nation.
Fred Allen Robison "After only 19 days of separation, Fred Allen Robison rejoined his sweetheart of 64 years. He died in his home" Herald&News 1/9/09			Velma Robison died last week. She and her husband Fred homesteaded in Tulelake in 1956. Velma was part of the documentary Homesteading in a Promised Land, a 100-year story told by Tulelake settlers. In the film, Velma Robison < (audio) tells how they felt the day their irrigation water was shut off in 2001: Velma was the heart and soul of our community; we will miss them both.
Velma: "The day of April 6, 2001, was as infamous to the people in the valley of Tulelake as Dec. 7th (Pearl Harbor Day) was to the citizens of the United States."
