Got it right

Three cheers for Cal Hunt.

His presentation of the facts as to the choice made by the voting members of the Klamath Tribe was informative, and something the Herald and News should have editorialized early on and run, and re-run, on a regular basis .

The choices made by the tribal members may not have been the right ones, but they were made, and the taxpayers have paid dearly for those choices.

Hunt commented on the nearly total slaughter of the deer herd - what a shame. I am not the only one who can remember seeing deer carcasses along the road with only the hind quarters taken, or a buck deer head stuck on top of a fence post still in velvet.

Those kind of acts were not seen in other areas. Now deer are few and far between.

Giving back the land would not be a good decision.

Letting the tribes benefit from proceeds gathered in from their casino could be a good thing. In time, they might own and operate their own mill, large cattle ranch, potato farm - the opportunities are unlimited.

Let the tribal leaders follow the example of a few members who have become successful without the help of the taxpayers, time and again.
