Campground closed for tribal ceremony

Herald and News 7/16/13

The Pit River Tribe will hold its annual gathering at Medicine Campground in the Medicine Lake Recreational Area Thursday through Sunday. The group will use Medicine Campground and the dispersed recreation area adjacent to Medicine Campground.

Modoc National Forest officials said the special closure for the annual event is provided in federal regulations regarding the privacy of tribal activities for traditional and cultural purposes. All other campgrounds and recreation sites will remain open.

People with questions should contact Modoc spokeswoman Jayne Biggerstaff at 530-233-8740.
