Glen Halsey, Chief
State of California
Department of Veterans Affairs
Veterans Services Division
1227 O St., Room 101
Sacramento, CA 95814

Dear Mr. Halsey.

On behalf of my mother, Eleanor Bolesta, a former U.S. Navy Machinist Mate, first woman to win a homestead in the Veterans’ drawing at Tulelake in 1947, and my father, Charles Bolesta, a Marine Corps Veteran currently residing at Yountville, and the hundreds of Veterans impacted by the decision that no irrigation water will be diverted to the farms in the Klamath Basin, we would like to invite you to come to the Klamath Basin and meet with these Veterans.

Marty Macy, a 20 yr Veteran of the Marine Corps currently a farmer in Tulelake, has asked me to extend this invitation to you . He said that when you come, he will personally ensure that the Veterans in the Basin will come and meet with you. They not only want you to see the situation first hand, but to meet with the people involved and hear their story.

Please RSVP with Marty as soon as possible, because the farmers need to decide if to plant, and what to plant, now.
