Let’s take back our county

Herald and News Letter to the Editor 5/4/12 by Tom Mallams, Beatty

Numerous citizens have asked me if I will be glad when Election Day has passed. I have to answer no. I will be excited to move forward when the final ballot has been counted, because the campaign has been a truly wonderful experience. Never before have I experienced the fantastic outpouring of support. I have visited with literally thousands upon thousands of our great citizens at the many forums, events at the fairgrounds, meet and greets, restaurants, stores, on the streets or knocking on doors, sharing our common concerns and desires for our much-loved Klamath County.

I have been encouraged and thanked each and every day for running for the office of Klamath County Commissioner Position 1. Citizens continue asking for signs, lists of voters to call and other ways to help in our effort to prevail in this election. I look forward to serving the citizens as Klamath County commissioner. I will serve with the same dedication and passion I have demonstrated for decades on many local issues. I will listen to the people. I will continue to oppose Klamath River dam removal. I pledge to not raise taxes during my term. I will not surrender our rights as citizens and call it compromise. Klamath County is in need of strong, positive leadership. Leadership that has a proven track record of serving the will of the people. Leadership that will stand up to out-of-control government and its burdensome regulations. Leadership that will have the courage and conviction to say when enough is enough. I ask for your vote in this most critical election of our generation. Let’s take back our county and our country!
